It was either Too strong or Did absolutely nothing.
Too Strong early game, kept people dry of mana and unable to act too frequently.
Did nothing once people started collecting over 1500 points of mana, -42 mana per hit would take a while to deplete mana even if they were spamming skills on you.
As of now, combined with MR items, it provides extra measures against being ganked while pushing or defending or jungling.
Note: it doesnt prevent all damage, it just provides a MEASURE of protection.
It's actually worth the gold it costs, which is not that much. And it doesnt feel like an easy victory as well.
