So two stats to increase damage

Ability Power
&
Attack Damage

As far as I can see Ability Power does what it says, all abilities seem to be increased damage with this stat.


Then is Attack Damage stat only for auto attacking? or does some champions use attack damage to increase damage of abilities?

If someone could explain to me the usefulness of the Attack Damage stat, that would be great, thanks!

Its used primarily for auto-attacks but some Champion abilities use it as a base stat and then augment it with extra damage. It is, however, reduced by an opposing Champions armor (save for if they do Magic Damage ie Ryze with his W ability activated), which is easier to see than Magic Resistance.

Jax jump does atk dmg + # (+AP)
