I'd still do the Tribunal if there were no IP reward. I do it because I enjoy it - I want people to be punished for trolling. I do judge each case. I'm the kind of person who's supposed to do doing the Tribunal, not the kids who just punish every case. The only problem with them auto-punishing is that if enough of them do it, they'll outweigh people who're actually trying to judge.

So what about other people who actually judge cases? Would you stop without the IP (which is dismal, anyway)?

In fact, the IP is really only worth it if you are auto-punishing. 50 IP for 10 minutes is good. But it's not great for 25 minutes. It's more fun than a quick surrender, yes, but you're also not likely to get all 50 IP.

I'd do tribunal if the IP bonus was removed, but mostly I do it because I like to see how unbelievably idiotic and vitriolic the community can be. Sad but true, really.

Considering that autopunishing will provide increasingly poor results with time, I'm guessing the best option is to alter the amount of IP gained based on how trustworthy a given user is - I.E voting in the long term well raises the IP you gain per case (not too much, maybe 10 per as an upper bound for saintly voters).

Ok let me tell you guys something important.

I was a replay analyzer for Dota. My job was to watch replays for cheating/being annoying/any other offense under the sun. It was boring as balls after a while. So, a little incentive is nice.

I think it's meant to be a "thank you for donating your time gesture". Kinda like the free T-shirt at a major volunteer event.

It's more than that. it's more ip/min than a real game.
