I thought the main tactic for Mundo was to run at the enemy towers 4 times (and die 4 times) before the creeps get there then dc after calling all the other players noobs...

Okay, but who's gonna bother to target him? He has zero dps. Super creeps are tanks, too, but they're not much of a threat to players.

And if you have Tristana on your team (which isn't all that unlikely), she can just nail him with Explosive Shot and halve his regeneration.

He's not any better of a tank than any other tank character. He just brings less utility, less damage, less survivability. Get two or three Warmogs on Ryze and you'll have the same quality of tank as Mundo.
