I play support champs defensively, protecting the points and such. That being said, I was able to secure victory as Maokai quite easily. I haven't tried Alistar yet but I bet if build tank you can defend a point long enough for backup to show up.

DPS Janna is amazing. You have all the same tools as Support Janna except you're not denied farm and can build ranged carry with your E as a steroid for when you need to 1v1 or kill a fleeing flow.

Kitae's Bloodrazor, Lightbringer, and then some big damage item. Crazy good.

Playing Heavy Plataform Sona, which means I get no speed at all but start with Sheen. Power Corded Sheen Valor's devastating for most DPS heroes gamestart. =P If you know where to be and how to move, the extra AP/AD would make her quite a nuisance if it wasn't for her low life pool. =(

Earlier today, I saw (Of all things) a burst AP Sona. And she was actually winning.

She built Rabadons, Thornmail, Sorc Shoes, Lich Bane, Guardian Angel, and one other item (Maybe Odyn's Veil), constantly grabbed Storm Shield, and was dropping our carries in ~1.5 seconds.
