I feel like most supports that are viable on SR are viable on TT, but not on their own. You need a specific partner that can really take advantage of them to destroy early. For example: Janna/Pantheon or Janna/Riven is insanely tough to beat with those characters' very high AD ratios. I go full armor penetration on Janna and lane with Pantheon/Jarvan/Riven/etc., let them farm while I harass with shield boosted autoattacks, and if the enemy gets aggressive I can just knock them up and shift shield focus to my lanemate to lay down the hurt.

Also, 2 support + hyper carry works out really well if the supports are also capable damage dealers. Karma + Morgana + Poppy is an absolutely ridiculous team late game.
