When you look @ your friendlist and hover over 1 of your friends you get this tooltip that shows if they are in game, what champion they play and for how long. But what you cant see is what map/mode they are playing!
So my suggestion: Either add the mode to the tooltip or replace "In game" With "Playing Summoners Rift/Twisted treeline/ Dominion".
