I believe that there is a way that it would be a lot easier to get a fair reading on the status of your promo series for ranking up in the leagues system, and that is that you should deny credit to both teams for a promo series if any one character in the entire game afks repeatedly/constantly. I'm not sure how you would distinguish somebody doing that in a game, maybe use a different sort of report system that is managed 24/7. I just feel like it is really difficult to rank up and play with people more my skill level if I constantly get afk's as my teammates.

It happens to everyone. Overtime you end up winning more games because of afkers and dcs than you lose, so there's really no cause for complaint. And since it does happen to everyone, it has no impact on the ranked ladder since ranked ladders are relative. You're looking for an excuse. This one isn't a very good one, you're going to have to find another.

That makes a lot of sense. By which I mean it explains a lot about why you're a silver player.

What you need to understand is your idea is not new or unique and is often repeated. And the reasons why it is not a good one have been repeated ad nauseum in other threads. A better approach to asking the question you want to ask, or even opening dialogue would be to frame things in this manner:

"It really stinks when games are lost in a promotion series due to afks/dc's. Is there any reason these games shouldn't be ignored in a promo series? I believe that they should, but if there's a reason why not, could you explain it to me?"

But, your original post could just summed up as "I believe that afk/dc games should be ignored in a promo series" and with that wording, it doesn't appear any consideration is given to the thought of whether or not the belief is valid to begin with. Most people who can answer your question have written dissertation upon dissertation on why its a bad idea and at this point in the life cycle of the game have little patience.

The shortest answer is much like Cavo said: It happens to everyone and whether you've recognized it or not, you've probably won a promo series due to the afk/dc on the other team. So, as far as your personal progress relative to everyone else, you're not hurt by it, and as long as you don't exacerbate the problem yourself by being an afk/dc-er you are statistically helped by it.

Another reason is that it can be very arbitrary how to determine what is an acceptable afk time or d/c time. If you institute a system like you suggest, how do we determine the point at which the game shouldn't count? And what about the players on the other team? Do they play out a worthless match and have their time wasted? Does the game end early? Do we penalize the afk/dc? There are many other issues I could address, but the point is that doing something like this would create a lot of scenarios where the only solution is subjective, not objective. The current system, however, lets statistics, mathematics, and the law of large numbers work in our favor.

But I get it, it sucks to be in your series and lose to a d/c. Not gonna deny that.
