Im not sure if it works for 5v5 teams but you can see your solo que elo before you finish your placement games. All you have to do is create a game lobby and it shows your current elo.
I'm currently "unranked" but i was able to track my elo. I got up to 1415 or so before i took a break and now I decayed back to 1400.
If it works for solo que I just assume it works for teams as well.
