He's more of a bruiser. He has early lane harass and can interrupt certain fights with his ultimate, and then charge into the squishies on the enemy team. Best played solo-top, though I have seen some jungle Wukongs as well.

I play him now and again, and he is more of an ad bruiser in my opinion.

Yi and Trynd are AD carries as opposed to bruisers

Tryn can be considered as a Bruiser I think?

Anyways, Wukong is a pretty good top-lane. Some ppl use him to jungle, but he is really not as strong compared to him as bruiser top.
