I can understand the OP's sentiments exactly. Dropping us from the game and allowing someone else to join, giving an exp penalty or some other punishment to the character... fine. Punishing the player via their account (ban) is completely unjustified since people can't control things like their kids crying, wife complaining, dogs barking, phone ringing, etc.

Sorry but, I mean... this is a game. Real life should always come first.

1) You can control all of those.
You tell your wife you'd like to play a game of league, it could take from 20-60 minutes, during this time you'd like her to take care of those issues if they come up and not be disturbed, you might have to compromise with her in the form of holding things down for her while she does something of her own at other times.

2) It's a game and real life is more important. You're right. But that doesn't mean that your negative impact on the other people's experience is any less real. They properly set aside time to play the game (and prove themselves more responsible than you in the process). They then have to play a game down a man because you couldn't be responsible enough to properly set aside time, and you're ruining the hour of free time that they set aside. They set aside free time to enjoy themselves and you're ruining it for them.

Think about it.

Then you shouldn't be bothered by the fact you can't play the game. Only your game experience is affected by your behavior in game.

No one is saying you are a worse person for putting real life first. Simply that, if you can't show commitment to playing, you're not going to be allowed to keep ruining other people's games. If you can't commit for 30-40 minutes at a time, then this simply isn't the right game for you.

It's completely justified. Don't got on without having certain time. This isn't hard. It just means you'll have to play less.

Maybe they don't pay him enough? Who gets paid enough nowadays eh? LoL!

I didn't know they did that for new players. How long has it been like that?

Playing games at work is fine, as long as you have nothing pressing that needs done; there are plenty of times where, depending on the job, you have downtime as you wait for something from another department, things are just slow, or any other of a variety of reasons. But even if you were to play at work, you're taking on the same responsibilities you do when home; you're committing to a full game.
You missed my point, which was actually aimed at the people disparaging his /work ethic/, NOT his leaving LoL. I agree whole-heartedly that if you start a game of LoL you should finish it (or get the banhammer) but the people smack-talking his playing LoL @ work have no business doing so! If he can MANAGE it (OP obviously can't) then why the heck /not/?
Go back and read my post and the few above mine and you'll see who I'm talking about.

"...and your teammates" Absolutely! I agree. This is LoL. He agreed to the Summoner's Code and should abide it or face the penalties.

"...and give only 50% effort at LoL without any consequences." Again, I agree here. This is LoL. In this forum, it is in our interest to get people to realize why they shouldn't AFK. NOT preach/desparrage/critique a work ethic that has NOTHING TO DO WITH LoL.

While we have no right to try to get him fired etc, as gamers ourselves, we have a definite right to ask that our fellow gamers conduct themselves with dignity and respect our community as a whole. That you would be gaming when you are supposed to be working (and then complain about it, but that's another issue) is highly disrespectful to every other gamer out there.
