So what you are saying is that she needs use her Q as part of her combo.

AKA she gets the most damage output because of using her Q with AA.

AKA her main damage combo is on a 13 second cooldown.

AKA what I said.

I never said she had to max Q first. I merely said that she needs to use Q to maximize her damage output.

Don't make assumptions. Makes you look stupid.

As for level 1 first blood, what did Cho take? Vorpal? Nah...that would be stupid as well.

I don't really understand what's the drawback of having no mana, as her abilities are just as strong or even stronger than other champ's, and her cds are very low.
So get your mana back after lasthitting creeps, and buy a Mana Crystal.

What you're saying is you don't like the fact that she counters some top opponents.
If we made riven in such a way that she didn't counter champions then nobody would pick her.
Some champions are countered by other champions, which is the basis behind the strategy of bans and picks during draft games.

However, unlike Riven, Cho can last hit minions and gain a lot of sustain from his passive. If Riven takes damage, she's cooked because her HP regeneration is low. She's either forced back to base, or has to have some form of HP regen to keep up in the lane if she's getting beat on every time she goes for a last hit.
Doombrew's Guide lists Cho'Gath as a Riven Counter.

Can any more experienced player please explain to me how in the world this is balanced to, let's say, Cho'Gath who can rupture (where she'll just jump out) like 3 times and is oom then (and essentially has to be in her face to aa minions to get some little mana back afterwards or spend a fortune on pots). Imo this champ is not beatable. And Cho shall be a Riven counter! Cho aside Riven destroys like every champ I play, I can chose between no farm at all and getting completely demolished by her.
How does riot justify all this stuff on a champ who can just spam it without worrying about Mana? Is she balanced to you?
She's balanced to me. Play Teemo. Laugh at her pathetic attempts to do damage to you (blind + poison = crippled Riven during laning phase = underfarmed Riven during team fight phase).

Or play Jax, and laugh at her pathetic attempts to duel you (counter-strike = stun = dead Riven if you pop off you W + Q combo right).

Irelia.

Only because you out sustain her and you have a stronger lane presence, meaning she has to recall (Early Game) when she's low but you can use your R or W to regain health. I use Irelia and you have to harass her hard early because in most (not all) situations, a fed Riven=GG. Be careful, because as someone said above, her passive makes her deceptively stronger so she can go toe to toe to you in early game as well.

Between his knock up, and his silence? Yeah, a properly played and geared Cho'gath will wreck Riven, especially considering that so much of what she does is in his "danger zone." It's just a matter of being able to survive her burst well enough to get her in range of his ult-kill.

Picking the right champion to fight another champion is only 1/3rd of the battle- even after that if you don't know how to handle them, and can't gear / mastery / rune them properly you're still going to have a rough time.
