It's all too easy for people to hide behind their computers and scream stuff at people they've never met. My opinion is that those who swear and yell and scream at people they've never met in real life are simple lone souls who have no idea what they're doing anymore.

So listen. Fellow female gamer here, not as hardcore as you, however, while you're purpose is straight and golden, stop the raging and all the other junk, and just enjoy the game is great, you're main focus got lost when you mentioned you were a girl.

So unlike you, I do straight up say "I'm a girl" when someone says something like "hey man wanna play a game?". Simply put, I don't want to be refered to as a guy.

I've never had so much trouble as you mention, guys following you around the map and flinging insults around at you. For one, the insult "suck my _ _ _ _" is probably worse for a guy to hear then a girl. Second of all. who was stupid enough to say that? you really want someone you dislike that close to something so important to you? 2 words. Bite. Down.

My point is, all power to you for you goal, but don't let it get lost in trivial things. Even me, who mutes everyone who even starts something rude, got distracted by your female ranting. Female racism is only PART of the problem, don't make it the main focus, even on accident. Good luck!

You know, that is an interesting point that a lot of players tend to assume that the other players are male. I never realized that before (of course, I am a guy, so I wouldn't notice). I do find that one of the first assumptions I tend to make is age, and generally I (fallaciously) tend to assosiate flaming with guys. Outside of that, I never really thought about it much. Though some people's communication styles really point one way or another. Very interesting point. But yeah, the trolling is just annoying, IDK if being a girl would make it worse.

Just a heads up, some might see the word 'homophobe' as a label, as well. In fact, many psychologists disagree with it's use.. as it isn't a phobia at all. If a person does not like homosexuality, it's an opinion, not a phobia. There is no evidence to suggest they are secretly afraid of gays. I'm not saying it's fine to trash on gays, just commenting on a bit of a pet peeve.

That said, I'll agree that certain allowances should be made in our daily speech for other's feelings. Yes, there are some instances when you should curb your speech. If you would be uncomfortable calling a stranger a particular word on a basketball court during a friendly pickup game, you have no place saying it in a video game.
