Surge is countered by Exhaust.

The Reason I don't like hybrid Varus is because he moves slow. Trinity is a 4k item that doesn't compliment his low CD spells and blight stack system. my core for him is BC and PD. PD to remedy the movespeed problem. and BC because you are alrdy a 3stack champion. I wish there was a cheap alternative to zeal and PD. I even went for a Nashor's once after my core to see what happens. nothing a good old Surge wouldn't solve aside from my Ult being off CD much sooner.

Buuuut. I was thinking of skipping the crit IE build after my core and going full BTs to have massive Q dmg and lifesteal.


Also, I always lvl w first. and I leave q last because I use it as a cheap mana cost blight purger. If I'm getting fed and get good AD I switch to lvling q though.

thanks for the idea....i really like it. i have also changed 1 item in my build, which seems to work a bit better than i thought.....and i honestly like him with ghost better than flash. now i run ghost and surge.
i like to rush malady as well, then bc. this makes it so when u last hit with ur q, the target will have both less armor for q, and less mr for w. also this makes him have very fast attack speed, especailly after a kill.

Playing some more. I have found that Black Cleaver is AMAZING on AD Varus.

AD Varus is best bot lane. Hybrid is best as a top-lane Bruiser. I start Scepter->Cutless and try to bully the other one out of lane. I don't think Trinity is a good item at all, but Frozen Mallet is. As a bruiser, I like to go Rageblade, Gunblade, Frozen Mallet, Wit's End/Bloodrazor/Wriggles (for Damage/Def depending on farm) etc. Hell, a Bloodthirster is really good too.

He feels a lot like a Kayle with more damage vs hp stackers and less sustain. I think he would beat Vlad, Olaf, Swain, and Rumble very easily and have fairly good matchups against Nidalee, Yi, Nautilus, and Kayle. I would guess it would come down to whoever has more skill vs Kennen, Udyr, and Lee Sin.

Also, I have hybrid pen Quints and marks, with Flat MR glyphs and flat Armor seals. Cause they are cheap. On the AD build, I actually like flat AD better than pen. Combine level 1 Q with vision, and you get an aggressive lane. I <3 Lux.

i can sympathize with the cost efficency of the build mentioned, how i usually build is with doran>beserker greaves>I.E.>(zeal)^Triforce>guinsoo rageblade/hextech gunblade(depending on survival rate) this way you will still have a lot of speed in attacks. use surge to blow them away. Last game I'm taking down morgana, amumu, and tryn like a boss. Also I notice varus can be sometimes squishy v.s. some summoners, Late game I'm often known to get a madred's bloodrazer and a Maw of Malmortius(the mr/ad item) based on need, but definately not so long as i'm carrying.
