I've run these on other websites and have maintained a song a day every day for over a year before and I try to keep a variety, but the musical genres I focus on usually heavy metal (and various subgenres), classical, some electronic, video game music, psychobilly, classic country, and some other oddball picks.

Song from their 2006 album The Locust Years. It features Mike Scalzi of Slough Feg on vocals/guitars (check back on the thread, definitely will be posting material by them). Progressive metal band from San Francisco, active since 2000, and I'd reccomend all of their material, which covers a wide spectrum of influences.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Sky Chariots

This is the opening track off of their 2000 album Down Among The Deadmen. Slough Feg are a heavy metal band from San Francisco fronted by Mike Scalzi. They are in my opinion one of the best, if not the best, bands of last two decades that you likely have never heard of. They draw influence from the dueling guitars of Thin Lizzy, the epics of Manilla Road, themes as diverse as table top role playing games (eg Traveller, which they have an entire concept album based on) to philosophy (Mike Scalzi has taught philosophy at San Francisco State University) and Celtic folklore.

I'm going to be seeing Van Halen tomorrow so I figure it only appropriate to include them. Anyways, the song is from the 1984 album and I linked to the music video. Very notable for the opening drum solo and distinct drum fills throughout the entire song.

It'll only be like my second concert in a year. Just recently saw Watain & Behemoth, before that I hadn't been to a concert since like February of 2011 (it was Orange Goblin iirc). Wish I had transportation and a more steady income so I could go to more concerts again, before I was seeing at least one a month (I've probably seen around 300 different bands live, then again metal concerts usually tend to have large set lists and there are plenty I would have preferred to have not seen).

This will only be like my third concert at a large venue. There would be like Rush, Ozzy/Rob Zombie & now this one. Most of the other shows I go to are like $20 and are general admission indoor clubs.

Warning, this song will leave hoof prints on your face from the galloping bass. Epic heavy metal in a similar vein to Slough Feg & Manilla Road. This song was featured on the Brutal Legend soundtrack.

Also, the Van Halen concert was pretty good. My concert shirts collection is just a little less black since I got a dark blue shirt :P.
