In general? Or with picks?

In general, dealing with Jax can be tricky sometimes. Making sure you don't waste auto attacks while he's got his dodge going is a really good start. Trying to keep him locked down is another.

It's much easier to try and counterpick him. I generally run Ali/Mundo/Malphite against Jax and do fairly well. Building items that lower his attack speed will definitely help if you need to stand and fight him. Actually, lowering his speed/attack speed in general is a pretty good idea.

Malphite and Nunu really shut him down 1v1. Moreso with Malphite.

Lulu, Janna, and Alistar also do pretty well at countering him even in 1v1 situations. Lee Sin and Gragas also do well in teamfights against him.

FH, Warden/Randuin proc, and Randuin active all stack multiplicatively for decreasing total attack speed. Its much better than Thornmail.

You can also try bursting him down. The biggest issue with this is that most champions that can burst down Jax can also be bursted down by Jax. And his cooldowns are usually shorter.

Heres how to get owned by Jax:

1. Play someone who is squishy with no escape mechanisms, or an escape mechanism on a long cooldown (long enuf that he can jump to you again before you can kill him).

2. Play someone who is reliant on autoattacks to win without a trick up their sleeve (a trick being like Trynds ER).

Now as far as countering him goes, getting some Tenacity can help you mitigate some of his stuntime. Also, if you have a built in flash or something (or just normal flash), and you see CS going, you can flash away from the stun, and then turn around and keep fighting him. Be warned, that if you aren't tanky enuf (or can't outburst him) you might still lose. Remember that Jaxs new passive makes him much tankier for a short while, and this his passive ramps up. Be wary of engaging Jax when he has all his cooldowns up, and if he pops Ult and tries to CS, use the strat above to kite him for a little bit until his Ult drops.

Hes very rough to deal with 1 on 1 for a bunch of champs. As stated above, Malphite is a pretty good way to shut him down 1 on 1, as you can drop his AS a ton, mitigate a lot of his damage, and hit him back with a good chunk of your own is pretty much how you counter Jax as long as you have a champ who can afford to build somewhat tanky and still do decent damage. Mercs/FH is what you want to counter him, and for any champs who can build tanky and get those items while still dealing decent damage, has a good chance against him. RO is not bad, but it isn't neccessary and you are probably better off getting some more damage if you are trying to 1v1 (if you are the main tank and in team fights, RO is good still though).

Foofm, the only weird thing about your post is your point about "long cooldown escape mechanisms", and then you mention Flash, the escape mechanism with the longest cooldown of them all.

How to deal with Jax:

- Don't duel him, he's the best duelist in the game.
- Kite him whenever possible. Knockbacks/slows/stuns all make his life hell since if he stops autoattacking for 2.5 seconds he loses his attackspeed stacks.
- Bait his counterstrike (swirls above his head) and ultimate (glowy bubble around him), THEN engage him.
- Don't fight him right after he's cleared a creep wave, he'll have ~60% bonus AS.

[QUOTE=Phourc;24010002]How to deal with Jax:

Exactly. 90% of Jax players will activate their dodge right before they r in range of their leap so they can insta-stun you soon as they leap to you, so soon as you see him doing it just back out of his range..when its over, if he hasnt built tank, hes easily kill-able although the champ your playing will determine the outcome tho. I have alot of success doing this with burst dps champs.
