think it's meant to keep him from being kited and in AA range, not as hard CC

that's what his pillar is for

Keep in mind he has a pillar which in some cases can completely close a path forcing the enemy to burn their flash.

Well, if you compare trundle to before, that slow makes him that much stronger. he has almost the same skill set, except now Q adds a 0.1 second slow. Would you prefer Rabid Bite which does the same thing but doesnt even have 0.1 seconds?

the only reason they're putting it is because the animation of old trundle's rabid bite was long enough for the enemy to literally walk away from him (without w or e), so by the time you caught up to them again they're under turret

It's to make up for the minor lunge he had on his Q going the way of Sage's Ring.

Its a fix to allow his Q attack to scale with attackspeed. Before he moved forward a little Riven style, now his target stops moving for a moment instead. Same result, just less buggy.
