The biggest issue I have with LoL. Riot DOESN'T condone unorthodox picks!

Haven't we decided it's already legit?

It's a stupid system and I'm nothing more than a rat in a maze hitting a sequence of buttons to get cheese while researchers look over and critique me without having ever done my job.

Now, apply this to League. I'm a free spirit. I've played lots and lots and lots and lots of games with "unviable" strategies. From Support Shen, to Jungle Blitzcrank, to AD Carry GP, to Mid Kayle, to Karma Top... This list could go on for about a mile of champions I've played at least 20 times out of their usual role and I tend to do very well with them. If a character is not allowed to be played as I see fit, then this is a stupid, stupid rule. If I ever get so much as a suspension for doing something "unorthodox" I am done with this game, because I will not put up with bull**** in my games. I put up with enough bull**** in real life.

Now, I can understand if you were like, "**** you *******s, I'm playing blah blah because I want you guys to lose. Suck my nuts!" That's called being a ******bag. I can even see if you're not talking at all in champ select and then suddenly when the game starts going to a lane no one was expecting you to go in, forcing the guy who was expecting to go there to play somewhere he wasn't expecting. That could be lack of communication.

What I can't see is this scenario being bannable:
"Hey, blah blah, we need a support."
"Well, I don't play much support."
"Just pick one."
"Alright, well my best is Fiddlesticks."
"No you can't play that. Pick something else."
"Fiddlesticks is really my best, I'm going to do it."
"Well, enjoy your ban, ******."
*Blahblah has been banned for playing support Fiddle and trying his best because his teammate didn't like it*

Since when is this game "do everything I say or you get banned"? And why should it be? You're in charge of your own character; I'm in charge of mine. There's a pretty substantial (if not always easy to spot) difference between, "I'm trying to do my best with something unorthodox." and "I'm trying to screw over the team."
That's just one game, you can't really get banned for one game. most likely that the only person that reports you is the one that said to report you. I've had people ask me to report a teammate. Never got around to it (too lazy)

Can you really say that you've never been forced into a role you're not comfortable with more than once?

Supporting your team should not mean complete conformity.

It was a generalization of the kind of game that shouldn't get you banned. Of course you don't get banned for just one game, but I've played enough Jungle Blitzcrank games where my team hated me that I could easily be banned. Should I be banned for trying my best with Jungle Blitzcrank? Nope.

Of course there are times where I'm forced into a role I'm not comfortable with.
There was this one time during a ranked match, I was the last pick, and the only role left was support. I suck with support completely, but I did go Alistar. Funny thing is, we won o:

There will be plenty more times where you are put in the same situation. If you value your account more than that one game, you can compromise. If you go a support you're not good at, at least you filled the role with a conventional support. That way, you learn, you play, and you don't have to risk getting banned.

Well let's take it the other way. Let's say I'm really good with Nautilus support. Or Jarvan support. One of the tanky CC pushy supports that aren't standard but are notable for being playable. If my team doesn't want to play with one of these, and would rather me play Soraka and passive sustain all game...they can report me for not conceding to their wishes, and I can be suspended. WTF

No Riot, releasing patch notes will not kill the interest in this thread.

Hahaha, omg. New strategy for getting them to release patch notes on time...just cause a big PR disaster that they need to cover up. Genius!

It doesn't, READ BOTH RESPONSES.

This whole rage is based on half of a single sentence while ignoring the entirety of the message. Wookie says he doesn't want to discourage unusual things but that ranked isn't the place, the fact a Red actually CHECKED THE BAN AND REPLIED (Reds traditionally never reply about why you were banned) implies that they are aware of people reporting for frivolous reasons and DO check them.

Instead we focus on half a sentence "or choosing a champion who isn't good at it", and ignore the "I don't want to discourage you from attempting unusual builds and strategies, but it would be best not to try these in ranked solo queue"
