Makes sense to me, Yi's mana costs are pretty insane- + CDR and Ability to activate ult on kill?

Why not! He did great.

Philostone is more than enough for my early mana needs. Dorans Ring works wonders as well if you want to lane Yi.

I think he means spamming his ult

It's 100 mana each time yi gets a kill so I don't think a philo is gonna solve that

items dont matter with bots, you can easily get over 20 kills as AD soraka

Meh, frozen heart or bviel will give more than enough mana to spam your skills in a teamfight while also giving you more tankiness.
