Ya I know, but I have never played him.

Some champs Ults are less powerful and so the nerf would hurt them less.

Karth seems fairly Ult dependent, but I am no expert.

He's not ult dependent at all. I would actually say his passive is a larger part of his gameplay than his ult. If you brought a Karthus to a game whose R button was broken you would still have a champion capable of delivering some of the highest sustained aoe magic damage in the game, an extremely strong poke, a teamfight changing wall of slow/mr reduc, and a champion who keeps doing all of this stuff 7 seconds after he is killed. His ult is just the gravy really.

Karthus bot's attraction is in his ult (Cass is similar but without the global influence), but Karthus top is all about the rest of his kit.

Yah, I agree with that. Closer to Soraka bot though, than Cass.

Though Soraka has a stronger bot lane presence in exchange for a weaker global ult on Dominion (though hers is instant).

Tier 5 - Should start in bot lane, but could swap later. Basically the no-placement tier of top lane.

If you can successfully argue that Yorick is capable of working as a primary top laner (like Karthus can, and he also once shared the Tier 5 spot in part because he was primarily considered a bot laner,) then you can probably get him higher.

Mordekaiser and Udyr aren't too good at first up top, but they're much better at bot laning.

I've just started playing Dominion again so I'm happy to see there is someone telling me who to play. Though if you're still playing regularly you're queues must be insane by now Sauron.
