Ive seen alot of QQ threads about Darius. The reason, people cant seem to beat him with their main. Not surprising if they are playing champs like singed, garen, or udyr against him. Even irelia doesnt do to well. But, to try and help them, ive developed a thorough list of who counters him, who doesnt, and why.
First, lets look at him as a champion. He can a high damage out put, a slow, a grab, and a TROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Damage >;[ ult. He has no hard CC, good burst, and doesnt use many auto attacks. Because of this, there are 2 really good ways to counter him. Engaging him in a drawn out fight with consistant damage isnt smart, so you need to use either hit and run tactics, or ranged harrass.
Not counters
Rumble- Normally, he counters most bruisers. But he needs to flamethrower for too long.
Udyr- He is bad. He can run in, stun, and Q, but by the time all that is through, darius can just EWQ him down. Not a great choice.
Garen- Sure he can silence and spin to win, but even with his W darius can out do him in consistant damage.
Irelia- Yea, she can dash in and then stun him, but to get her true damage off she needs to auto attack, which takes too long.
Hit and Run
Talon- I think hes the definition of hit and run. Blink to him, hit him with your blade conal thing, use ur bleed on him. This can happen in a sec, so your E may wear off, but it still works pretty well.
Riven- Yes, riven. Of course riven. She can QQQ into him, knock him in the air, W to stun him, and dash away with E, unloading her whole combo and getting out before he can even blink.
Fizz- Q into him, 1 auto (maybe) and jump away to avoid the inevitable grab.
Jax- Dive into him, with your E ready, then hit him with the stun, bursting with W. Or, if you get the chance, E him without your dive, W him, and leap to a friendly minion as an escape.
Malphite- Despite his TROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Damage >;[, armor does nullify his other abilities (yea, hes got armor pen, but still doesn't matter much) Your E can hit hard, and Q can even harass from afar if you need to.
Poppy- Dive at him, Q, and then run away with your W for extra armor. He may grab, so its worth holding off on it. Shes not a hard counter, but can work.
Renekton- Havent tried it myself, but I heard it kicks his ass.
Cho'Gath- Pretty good. He has true damage to match, can knock up, as well as silence Darius, which will hurt his combo pretty bad.
Shen- Taunt, Throwing knife, Ki Strike, and then sheild the rest of his damage. Or use E as an escape instead.
Volibear- You can QEW him, dealing some good burst. Not a hard coutner, but decent.
WW- Heals any damage he can deal to you.
Wukong- Dash in, Crushing blow to the face, then decoy away. What can he do?
Akali- Dash it, combo, W away. Cant touch you.
Ranged Poke Coutners
Mundo- Can cleaver and if darius tries to engage, just Burning Agony.
Gangplank- Do i need to explain?
Gragas- Just use your beer attack alot. Pretty straight forward. If he tries to get you, just dash away.
Kennen- Decent poke, but not an amazing choice, due to minions blocking. But he can E away.
Pantheon- Spear him to death. If darius tries to pursue, stun and run.
Swain- Just unload on him. He cant really stop your regen.
Urgot- Some of the best poke in the game, and fairly tanky as well.
Vlad- Can harass with, as well as stay healed. Also, can pool away from any attempt at retribution. Darius cant really touch him with no immediate gap closer.
Yorick- After a while, the ghosts hurt.
Nidalee- Remember her? Well, she can do both. Spears to deal the innitial damage. Then kill him with your cougar form. You can easily escape with your pounce as well.
Now, I really hoped this helped every one struggling against Darius. Most of these counters, while not hard counters, will make the lane go pretty easy. There is no reason to play a champion who wont beat Darius, and then QQ about it. At least try to play more than 1 person against him, because odds are your 1st time wont work. And if you arent used to playing against him, thats only another thing holding you back.
