Hey all,

I'm a L30 player, but have never played a single game of dominion. Never really looked into it.

Until now.

It seems like it could be a pretty fun gametype, as long as you know the objectives, goals, etc.

Which brings me to my question - Would someone be willing to give a brief explanation of the goals, victory conditions, basic strategies, explanation of the Dominion metagame?

Anything that could help me understand better how to play the gametype, and not walk into my first game going 'hai guyz, i noob, halp?"

there's a guide on the first page which also refers to the other basic guide, the basic concept is that both theams have a Nexus at 500 health and whoevers has more control points than the other team gets to damage the enemy nexus overtime dying also causes a little damage to your nexus, for more information please refer to Sauron's And Nekrogen's guides using the search function of the forum.

In the first paragraph I think, there's a link to a complete newb's guide that you should read first.

Any questions other than that just ask around, this particular section of the LoL community I've actually found to be very helpful.

As for personal advice:

You may not like it at first until you get the meta, but keep at it and I think you'll find like the rest of the people here that this game mode has so much to offer.

On topic, thanks for the info. Read all of Nekrogen's guide, and some of Sauron's. most of the latter went straight over my head.

in SR, I mostly play Top(Olaf/LeeSin/Nasus/Irelia) or Varus/Ez. Any of them viable? I also have Panth and TF, I'd think that their (semi)global ults would come very much in handy in Dom?

All are viable, though Varus, Nasus and TF seem to have a tougher time on this map than other champs of the same archetype. Also if you play top in SR, bot on Dom may be for you. Just be aware that there are god tier champs for bot. Also, minions do much more dmg on the crystal scar so DO NOT underestimate them when pushing.

Also note that Nasus CAN work as a Yorick counterpick on bot lane.

dont play with pugs, a fast paced game like dominion is like.... someone on your team disconnects you lose about 85% of the time, if someone disconnects at the start of the game, then your screwed.

We can't all run 5-man premades, unfortunately. A DC is unfortunate, but it's slightly more likely to happen on the enemy team since you know you won't xP


As for the champs you mentioned, the bruisers are totally viable - Olaf, Lee, Irelia. Triforce, CDR, doesn't afraid of anything.

Panth is a boss if you build him tanky (My general build order, upgrading as needed - Prospector's, Mercs/Tabi, Brutalizer, Hexdrinker > Maw, Glacial > Frozen Heart, Last Whisper or some BF swords)

Nasus is an extremely strong bottom laner - found an old post of FDru's reccomending:

Generally, when I see him run bottom lane he tries to guess his lane opponent and grab chain vest or merc treads depending on what damage type he'll be facing.

Ez, Varus, TF - Ranged AD is the hardest class to run on Dominion, with no real towers to hide behind and no guaranteed tank/support to protect you, you're often up against some really angry bruisers. That being said, Ez, Vayne and Corki all do extremely well due to their solid damage, range and escapes, any other carries I'd recommend only when duo queuing xP

Played a few games. It's hectic, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. Won as Olaf and Fizz, got rocked when I tried Ez, haha. Those mean bruisers did bad things to me. Going to try Panth next game. He was my main between 10-20, but haven't played him too much since.

My only concern about Nasus, while he is probably my favourite champion, is the relative lack of farm I'm seeing so far in my level of Dominion. His Q wouldn't get very farmed, and thus, would not become as much of a terror.
