just because they're a higher level doesn't mean they're better
you'll learn that when you reach level 30.

Its based on both your level and elo. Yes, there is an elo score for normal unranked games. To make an estimate it is simply the difference between your wins and losses x 10 (roughly).

Someone on your team was a premade or someone on the other team was a premade which changed a few factors in the match making.
