Seemed fairly evenly worded to me. There is a fine line between a company's image and a company's integrity. What you are asking for would compromise Riot's integrity as a company. They might not do everything well but it is pretty clear they like to present themselves as a caring and concerned company to its fan base. That doesn't mean pandering.
Some people, like say--me, would lose respect for a company if I read, or inferred as seems to be the name of the game here, "We're so sorry to hear that some of you are upset over something totally ridiculous and silly. It's outlandish to think that because some players LOST PAID CONTENT! As in, they were unable to access content they paid for, we wanted to reimburse THEM as a sign of good faith. Like, say, if a bank "lost" 500 of your dollars. And what you're asking for is to be paid even though the same thing didn't happen to you, but ya know--you belong to the bank too. So, yeah. Gimme. Well, we heard what you were saying and decided sure **** it, here's some RP. Go stuff your faces. We don't even care anymore. Whatever you want. Also our next champion is just going to be a pair of breasts in a fiery bra cause you want that too. Bye."
That might make Riot look like a pandering, spineless company that is more interested in appeasing the masses than trying to make a true amends. Because saying to hurt people, "We made a mistake we apologize---but we're kind of just going to give this to everyone. But you're still important too!" Doesn't look so good. Anyway, good luck with your embittered sense of self-righteousness. I bet it'll take you far. At least, that's what I was reading between the lines of your post.
