Counterpicks and bans done using Information available at the time and in-client and from personal knowledge gained from playing the game. I see no problem with that.
Do you really not see the distinction?

Probably can't, doesn't have to, I still get to call you out on it.

Pre match scouting you can do in-client and is thus 'part of the game' using lol-kings at a point where you can't look at profiles is going outside of the game to gain an unfair advantage.
And you're saying that it's only cheating because you're looking it up on a website instead of inside the client? ***** please. Your argument makes ZERO sense. Which is why NO ONE is backing you up.
If you can do soemthign in the client then logically it's part of the game, if you can't then it's not part of the game. It's makes sense, that you disagree with where i draw the line as to whether or not something if fair is a different issue.
You aren't just "disagreeing", you're flat out calling it cheating, which is an accusation.
I'm questioning the validity of it as a tactic. Since you guys think it is fine, the other position is that it is not fine i.e. it's cheating

This, though it wasn't a perfect solution. Not sure whether we're better off with people gaming the system but people being less punished for net problems or vice versa.

The analogy is correct because the information is not available within the scope of the game during champion select, it's private in the sense that the game does not allow you to access it and you have to circumvent it to get at the info.
