Hug tower, or stay river side and run back along it if attacked, sure Rammus can charge you, but Garren wouldn't be able to keep up so you will live if you play your cards right

completely changing your playing style can be annoying but will deny garen trough the entire game if he does not snowball his early game advantage, if you die during the laning stage, know you were guilty of making garen strong later on.
