Literally, this reminded me of stuff I watched middle school kids write back in the day (I say watched, because even in middle school I was in another level writing-wise.) Riot- I'm sorry, but can you honestly do any worse?
I don't know if the word power creep means anything to any of you, but it's like in Dragonball Z- you start out with Raditz who can get killed by a single Special Beam Cannon, and end with Buu who you can hit with a fully powered Kamehameha at Super Saiyan 3 potential and still not kill, requiring the majority of the energy of every single living being on earth (including a Super Saiyan 2 and like 4 Super Saiyans). The problem with League of Legends is there are now 100 champions of relatively equal strength- some of whom are practically gods, some of whom are miniature dudes with blow darts. The fact is 100 people at that level, cannot really coexist all that well. Riot is trying to make a world which cannot, applying normal principals of psychology and sociology, exist. So their lore sucks.
Riot: you don't need to suffer through this. Find a single talent person- maybe 2, or at most 3. Present your problem. Just let them go at it hour after hour, day after day. May take them a week, a month, even longer. Let them run through it, figure out how each champion interacts with the others, figure out the lore that lets them all live together in the same space. It is possible to do- it just requires actual time and effort. That's right- I'm asking, for all the lore-heads around here, to give it that much. Give it what it is due- a few people who honestly care about it, really trying their hardest. Don't just dump it on your game design people- they aren't hired for that. Given what they've written, quite honestly they don't have what it takes, or at least the time to show it. Give it to someone who does.
You're losing me Riot- I came, years ago, because your lore was worth reading. I've waited, for years now, while the level has dropped to now where literally NO ONE reads it because it is good. They read it because it exists and they want it to be good. But I doubt it is even .01% of the current player base who considers your lore to be even in the same ball park as adequate.
