Hello Summoners,

I come to you today for your input on what you think of the reporting feature in League of Legends.

To better understand where am coming from, I wrote up an article giving my perspective on the subject over here on MMOsite.

Check out what I had to say!

Vote on the poll and elaborate in comments!

I like how your choices are: Perfection, extremely wrong, or no opinion.
Why not have an option for "The reporting function works well, but might need some improvement"? Because that's exactly where my opinion lies in this matter.

What Slogra said.

Some people abuse it.

The real problem lies with the Tribunal, in which most people Falsely Pardon.

They're currently looking on ways to encourage people to actually read cases and ****.

But to say the report function doesn't do anything, is just stupid.

You're also thinking that the ignore function should affect matchmaking. Are you ****ing serious?

You're also saying that in some cases, it's ok for people to leave games and go AFK without warning. How do you know if they're not just making an excuse? Even if they had a valid reason to leave, you should still report them. If it turns out they haven't left many other games and have not broken other rules, they will NOT get banned.

Also, in the VERY rare cases someone DOES get unjustly banned, you get a reform card and you can appeal for your ban.

The problem doesn't lie with the report function. It lies with the Tribunal. Which, as I said up top, they're currently looking into ways to make people stop falsely voting on cases. Yes, there is problems, but people should still report people, since people that do deserved to get banned, do.

we need a report option like:
"Is a plague on humanity." Or, you know, other.

the idea of players policing themselves by guidelines not set in stone is completely moronic. i cant imagine who on earth thought this was a good idea to implement let alone keep this thing for so long.

the terms and conditions/summoner code stuff that you all sign is so ambiguous that anyone could be reported for any game for any reason. you died after i pinged you back? griefing. you didn't pick support? trolling. you said gg noobs? ban ban ban ban.

the problem is that there's really no limit on reports nor are their hard guidelines by what is bannable and what isn't. for the small 3 day sample when tribunal was open i was appalled by which cases were pardoned and which were punished. one guy had a punish playing ad veigar in a game that if you read the chat log he was playing in a 5 man premade (they all called each other by their first names). the only players that reported him were the enemy, yet i was in a tiny minority of pardoning.

then there were some pardons which i thought were blatant punish. bad language, harassment, etc. it's way too left up to individual tribunal users and their moods for that day whether or not another player is punished. it's an awful system.

How can you think it's anything but abused. people use it as a threat for everything and reports are thrown around so frivolously.

It IS abused. But not everybody abuses it.

People have always thought that the Tribunal wrongfully banned people all the time, when in fact, most people falsely pardon players.

The people that get banned, deserve it. The people that got away from being banned, will be back in the tribunal if they don't change their attitudes.

Like I said in my previous post, players get reform cards when banned, and if they were SOMEHOW wrongfully banned, they can appeal it.

Also, I've said this in my previous post as well. The Tribunal, while not perfect, is constantly being reviewed by the staff, so they can make changes to make it better. If you've bothered to check the Tribunal Section, you will see that (aside from the people complaining about being banned) that people are constantly giving suggestion in making the Tribunal better.

the entire system is broken. every game i enter, someone says "reported" at least once ever sense the tribunal was created.
- it causes more stress than anything else because you are more afraid of taking a risk that could set you ahead because if you do your team will report you for feeding.
- players now have to think twice before asking a team mate to gank, ward, dont over extend, plz buy this because if they may take offence and report you for negative attitude.
- this is an esport, what happened to friendly banter between team mates and oposing teams. now if you say anything at all, you get reported for abuse

THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS BROKEN. IT ONLY EXISTS SO RIOT CAN MAKE YOU FEEL IN CONTROL AND DON'T REALIZE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING YOU TO BUY SKINS AND CHAMPIONS SO THEY MAKE MONEY.

Reporting is definitely abused when 1 out of every 20 or so games goes by without someone calling for everybody else to report somebody else. It's ridiculous, people are way too quick to lash out. "OMG, the enemy team got a successful gank on bot, report support/ADC for feeding gg." Almost every game it's like this. "Champion X died to Champion Y two times? gg feeder noob report please." "WTF mid picked flash teleport report for trolling please." It just never ends, people will report you for ANYTHING.

I don't need the ignore to function as a matchmaking filter. I simply wish that in future games they would still be ignored. My point is that if I didn't want to read their chat a month ago, I still don't want to read it today. It makes no sense at all that the ignore feature doesn't function properly.
