I would like to know also, why it is that, my team gets a huge lag spike, dies, and lose a tower, and then the lag goes away.

you get huge lag spikes if your bandwidth is capped - because more packets are sent before and during big fights. you can actually use these spikes to 'see' ganks coming but unfortunately you usually die to the ganks anyway cos your client is too laggy to register your retreat commands

so..
1. get better internet
or 2. watch less porn
