Yesterday I played with Sion and did good (not great) something like 16/8/X.

However because of bad decisions, overextended allies trying to solo everything and an extremely bad jungler we lost. Fair and square. Ok we had a sh!tty team composition too.

At the end of the game, I noticed that the game was tagged as a ''forgiven loss'' instead of a regular ''loss''?

What has changed and what's the difference?

TLDR: What's the difference between and forgiven loss and a loss?

haven't check my opponent's names to see if I recognize a riot staff.

can I get a red post comfirming this? Is a forgiven loss due to being pubstomped by Riot staff?

it means something happened that wasn't supposed to happen in the match, so the loss doesn't count, like when a major bug they're working on happens. Pretty sure they started forgiving losses for the Karthus bug recently.

When the servers are laggy they turn on forgiven losses. You don't lose ELO, and the game isn't added to your aggregate ranked scores.

The winning team gains half the ELO as normal and counts as a normal win.

I had eve carry the enemy team to victory once and I think I should have had a forgiven loss then.
