Some incentive of making Support champions more fun to play would be nice. The whole babysitting/zero last hitting phase is quite dreadful.

Just look at custom games..There are several ARAM games being created at the same time...
I've thought of this a lot. I do like the idea of automated ARAM, and I feel like it would be a good, if a bit niche, addition to LoL for the community. However, it would take up resources that Riot would probably rather use on finding regular games. I guess i'm not saying much here, but it's up to Riot, and I think I'd rather see new and awesome stuff than see ARAM (which I do very much enjoy) become a little easier to access.

That's why people play supports aggressively, with the support, not the carry, putting out most of the poke. I watched a youtube commentary on it once, but I don't remember the specific name. Basically, since most supports are sustainable in health and mana early, they can do some dropping of Zilean bombs, or they can shoot tornadoes, throw iceballs, what have you.
