Sidelanes are going to do less damage to jungle camps. This means that AoE junglers are going to have an advantage in being able to clear wolves (or wraiths, in the case of maokai) before golem spawns, while single target junglers wont be able to do so.

Furthermore, AoE junglers will always have faster clears for small camps, which means that they are going to be able to farm and counterjungle more effectively. Since the jungle will be worth gold again, this farm advantage will be able to transition into teamfight strength, albeit at the cost of lane ganks.

No way.

If Hecarim's good in the jungle, then so is Skarner. Their early jungle is extremely similar. Jax is probably amazing as well.

The sense I get is that they're trying to give junglers like Fiddlesticks and Warwick, with high single target DPS and sustain a leg to stand on, competitively.

With Hunter's Machete, Wriggles, and spirit stone jungle will still be viable for a good number of champions
