Ummm I actually think it is..
I remember either a cop show or an old law case with this.
Police can't enter private property with no reason.

it's legal if he was put in a situation where he was afraid for his life or that of his loved ones. he'd have a hell of a time proving the cop came in unannounced, however. guess who's side the police would come down on?

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to agree with Fuji, I could really only end another life if there was something or someone I cared deeply about on the line. As an atheist in particular, I see life as being one chance. Extinguishing that chance for someone else without proper cause seems..haunting.

i'm not sure how i'd react if i were protecting myself. i'd definitely be ready to pull my gun and set my aim, but i'd probably try to send the guy running before i pulled the trigger.

if there were someone else to protect, i wouldn't hesitate.

It's a gray area that never ends well for the person "defending" their property. If anything let them arrest you and then sue them later.
