Why does Karth have a stupid wind up on his basic attack?

I know the point is to farm with his Q but it just seems like it needs to change.

To make it harder for him to last hit.

That's literally the reason, it's a balance decision that he needs to have a harder time farming with auto attacks.

Unlike most champions his auto attack has a longer animation, and won't fire unless it finishes most of it.

More of a problem; Why does Annie have a long windup on her auto attack animation?
Coupled with the ultra low damage and the ultra slow projectile speed and the base attack speed of a sloth in quicksand it makes last hitting with her auto attacks hell. And unlike Karthus you can't always last hit with your Q, if you're saving your stun for example.
Why give her such high range if they didn't want her to be able to farm at a distance? Is the possibility of some crazy person trying to play AD Annie really so threatening?

It's because of her high AA range.

You don't need to be playing AD Annie to take advantage of her autoattacks for harassing.

Wow...really? So she should be able to last hit with auto attacks easily as well as have a Q that costs no mana to last hit with?

I'm honestly shocked by your blatant stupidity.

Why last hit minions with autoattacks when you can last-hit champions with Requiem?
