So although the summoners code states that if you are first to pick, you can take the role you want, this causes a lot of unneeded stress when someone is forced to play a role they don't want to. Yeah i know, someone has to man up and play support sometimes, but I feel like if there was a system that had you designate your role before you entered matchmaking, there would be less strife and complaints about not getting the role you want.
This way people who aren't willing to get stuck with support will be matches with players who will be.

The solution for the calling versus first pick problem is exactly what you said: people just need to man up and play whatever role is needed. If you want to play your favorite champ in your favorite lane, then play normals.

Even if it wasn't bad to freeze the meta, this would suck b/c of queue times. Support players will admittedly be able to get into a game instantly whenever they want, but if you ever want to do anything else your queue time will be at least double what it is now while you wait for both teams to get a support.
