Also: nobody takes it seriously, it's one of the oldest jokes in LoL. If somebody gives you hell for not having skins chances are they're just joking around, don't get an inflated ego for beating somebody who's joking.

It's actually a real thing but I'm not sure what to call it other than "skintimidation." Same thing happens in any gamewhere there are cosmetic upgrades. If someone has gone through the extra trouble to make their character look different, then it's obvious they quite enjoy that character and play it frequently. Whether or not they're any good with the character is another story, but you do tend to play more cautiously around people with skins other than the defaults. If they're bad, you just find that out instead of assuming in the case of them not having a skin.

Seriously man. Everyone I know makes that joke. At load screen we joke on TS about winning or losing the skin war. The second battle is the number war, which is whichever team has less numbers in their names. It's just a way to throw a little levity out there.

If you react negatively they probably thought it was worth it to mess with you, because you were being gullible. Take a deep breath and take things with a grain of salt, man.

Having a skin is still better than not having a skin, unless your original art is super legit like Fiora's (and others).
