Futurama and simpsons have some pretty similar archetypes.
"Stupid but well-meaning man has a typically competent but sometimes.quirky female love interest."

I enjoyed the Big Bang Theory at first, not because I thought it was funny(It wasn't), but because it was a nod at Nerd/Geek culture. Unfortunately, as the show became more and more successful, it began turning into the average sitcom, eschewing the nod towards nerd/geek culture and embracing a HYPER AWESOME QUIRKY FUN caricature of it.

It failed completely when they added two new girls, one being the one you're thinking of, Mayim Bialik, a terrible actress playing a terrible character.
