If I want to beat Akali I like to take Swain in mid, and I like to take Jayce top.

Primarily because they both have great counter initiation methods.

Quick guide for Swain: At early levels (1-3) use your range to you advantage. Harass with auto attacks and E. Levels 4-5 only harass with E unless your full combo will kill her. Only use Nevermove if she goes in on you. At level 6, use skills as you deem necessary, ONLY engage her when you are among enemy minions. From this point on, you are more useful than Akali.

For Jayce, just punt her around a bunch every time she goes in on you. use your range early game.

anyone who has skillshots or aoe does ok against her, like for example, Shyvana can just turn on burnout while akali is in her bubble

Swain, Chog and Fiddlesticks are Akali greatest counters. Maybe Mundo too.

Tbh there are a good amount of champs that can handle Akali, but the ones I have found most effective are Zed (built like and ad glass cannon) and actually heimerdinger. Zed wins so hard pre 6 that its difficult to recover for her and if he brings a vision ward to lane post 6 he can kill her with his ult when ever he has ignite up. Heim needs to max rockets first and then towers second. always save your grenade for when she jumps on you to stun. The harass and pushing power you have early on her can get you a big lead but its risky if they have an aggressive jungle to push so hard.

Casting nevermove in her shroud leads to rage in all chat when you keep casting it on her. Swain completely destroys her pre 6 before she gets the gap closer. Pinky wards are your friend against Akali.
