It's apparent you don't really know how a business works. Even though it's a little silly to look at life through this "all companies will do ANYTHING to steal my money" lens, you would still do well to learn a bit about business.

Riot Games is primarily comprised of design and game developers. People who actually help CREATE the game. And these guys don't do ANYTHING just to turn a profit. True, a profit means people like their game so they love seeing great numbers. And let's not forget a lot of these guys are shareholders and I HOPE Morello gets stinkin rich off of the amazing job he's done on this game. But you seem to think everyone down to the janitor is out to grab your money. it's not true. In fact, in most big companies, developers are constantly fighting with the finance people to preserve the quality of the game vs the need to release it. Riot seems to have an amazing amount of control over this process which is strong evidene that Tencent is just funding them and taking profit and not messing with success. Bravo there.

Now, every business DOES have the finance "bottom line" people. Their job is to make sure the engine remains profitable. And the REST of the company comes down on them if they feel their practices aren't in the best interest of the game. Same with marketing, whose job is to make sure people are aware of features and that they're tauted in the best light possible. If any one of these non-game departments gets too greedy, the people who love and care about League of Legends will come down on them.

So the truth is that companies need profit but rarely do game companies (especially this one) make specific plays at your wallet without regards to your happiness. Businesses aren't evil. Sure, WALMART and some other giant corporations have done some pretty sinister stuff to keep money in their pockets, but most businesses are only out for your money if you like their product. Riot goes through great lengths to give us quality game time and is as transparent as they can be as often as they can be. This is truly a model company when it comes to communication.
