Hey GD, I've got a couple questions about how I should be using jayce come teamfight time, after a couple of recent experiences...
What I currently do is before the full fight breaks out I do the accel gate shock blast combo to poke them down as much as I can. Once they dive us or we dive them, I try to get off another EQ then I'll switch to hammer mode and either dive their carry or peel for mine with E. Once I've used my hammer combo, I'll swap back to cannon mode accel gate away slightly, shock blast through it and go hammer mode back in again. Is this "correct"?
I ask because a few games ago I had a team that kept diving without letting me poke some first and then when I would hammer in and run back out to toss another shock blast, the Jax on my team started calling me a "chicken" as if I were leaving the fight.. I told them if I just dove in headfirst right away I'd get destroyed (I entered one of the earlier teamfights this way and was focused down instantly...)
Then last night I took jayce mid (team was fine with that, I asked first since I wasn't AP mid) and the wukong told me I was the tank and should build warmogs first... Since I went mid I started with an early hexdrinker (vs lux) and built damage items. I typically build warmogs on jayce after I have 2 core damage items, the game ended in a loss before I got it though. IMO, with wukong, kahzix, Sona, cait, and jayce (me) on a team, wukong shoulda been the tank (first one in), is that right?
Just for reference my build usually is:
Tear to muramana
Brutalizer to black cleaver
Bloodthirster
Warmogs
Boots (depends)
Misc last item as required
TL;DR how do you "properly" play jayce once teamfights break out? Should I generally build damage items primarily or am I to be a tank? (Again, I'll get a warmogs as my 3rd big item typically, which makes the most sense to me...)
