But no, people who think Donnie Darko is good because they "get it" and other people just "don't get it" are what's wrong with humanity, 100%.
Donnie Darko has an absolutely abysmal narrative with a piss-terrible story.
You can watch it uncut or cut.
- If you are watching the Director's Cut, it splices in SOME information about wtf is going on. But it also adds 30 minutes of nothing.
- If you are NOT watching the Director's Cut, you just saved yourself 30 minutes of watching Donnie Darko d1ck around doing nothing, but you missed out on 50 seconds of -very- important exposition.
Basically, you're screwed either way. The movie sucks.
I wanted to love it, I tried to convince myself so hard that it was a good movie, but in the end, amateur acting, lots of contrived "twists", just horrible script, cheap special effects... ugh, why does it get praised? I'll never understand.
