Hello everyone

Im just wondering if someone has a a take on Dodges and criticals vs and with spells.

For Example Poppy's Devastating Blow can not crit and can not be dodged?

Olaf's Reckless Swing, can it critical? I think so and if it can critical, can it also be dodged. If it critical hits, would Olaf do double damage to himself?

Heimerdinger's Rockets?

Teemo;s Blind?

etc.

Is there a rule of thumb for which spells can deliver critical damage and which spells can and can not be dodged or some place where this is discussed in greater detail?

Apologies if this question is already answered, even a link would be very much appreciated.

I dont think abilities can crit unless absolutely stated - like parlay 'applies onhit effects and can crit'.

effects that are modifications to the next autoattack (shens passive, akali's q proc) can be dodged.

Ive dodged parlay before, for example, but never a rocket or teemos blind

Modified auto-attacks can crit, such as Poppy's Q, or Nasus' Q - however the bonus damage doesn't crit, the auto-attack does, and then the bonus damage from the ability is added on top, if I'm not mistaken.

Olaf's Reckless Swing is not a modified auto-attack, it is a separate ability all to its self. Heimer's Rockets, Teemo's blind - these are all abilities and not modified auto-attacks.

You can't dodge Parrrley anymore.

I really wish Riot would fix the search function so I could provide a link to the particular release notes.

O.k.

Just recently I took 640 true damage from Olafs Reckless Swing. I assumed this was a critical hit. OR is there another way this skill can do 640?

Regarding Poppy's Q. Let's say she has Sheen and a base of 150... And she scores a Critical hit. The sheen doubles her base... Does that mean her hit would do 600 plus the magic bonus? Assuming 2000 hit points on the target and 100 ap on poppy that would be another 320 at max DB? (before resistances). Thus a crit hit for over 900?

Based on what I have read, Kayles raging fury can crit, but Ill assume its only on the primary target and again, only the base damage crits not the bonus damage. Can we also assume that you can still dodge after she puts up raging fury if you are the primary target, but you can not dodge the splash.

If I take this further, if you take Tiamat the primary target can dodge your attacks but the splash can not be. So, in theory, if you had two Tiamats, you could attack a minion near and enemy champ, he would take the same damage you are doing to the minion but without any chance to dodge.

What i am finding is this. That a modified attack can crit but can no longer be dodged. I started thinking about this because dodge seems to be significantly less effective than it used to be and I am seriously considering removing it from all my rune pages and masteries page and going for straight armour/magic resistance instead

And I am also considering beefing up my Critical chance in game and possibly even on the Rune Page.

Odd questions I know but knowing what's going to happen vs guessing is a big advantage.

The after death screen shows all instances of the skill combined together.

The only abilities that can be dodged are skillshots, and those require you to actively move out of the way. Because of this, dodge is only a counter to physical DPS champions, though by a great amount. With full dodge yellows you can get about 7% dodge, which is like 7% reduction in damage from any physical source, and it stacks with armor.

If you're talking about the "Dodge" stat, abilities cannot be dodged. Some abilities that modify autoattacks can be dodged, but for the most part those have all gotten buffed so they cannot be dodged. You can't dodge any ability that isn't a modified autoattack.

As for Crit, any ability that modifies an autoattack can crit, but it only increases the attack damage. The bonus damage does not crit, it's just added on top of the critical. The only non-autoattack abilities that can crit are Parrrley and Judgement. And on Judgement, it's only the damage from his attack damage, not the base ability damage, that can crit. No other ability can crit or be dodged, even those that look like they are made with the champion's weapon like Reckless Swing and Blinding Dark.
