I'm pretty bad with mock-ups, so here are the important parts of the UI and my thoughts.

- Abilities and summoner abilities need to be next to each other. The last mock-up with them separated by the items is poor and undesireable.

- I don't like having the enemy portraits on the screen and grayed out when you can't see them. It really downplays map awareness and team coordination. With the icons there you just watch the top and if someone goes gray you back out. Gank avoided, awareness and coordination needed? Minimal.

- I don't think custom UI's are a good idea unless they are really limited. Everyone should have the same tooslet and I'm afraid if custom UI power is given and too much is there that there will be mods that are basically required for competitive play. That's bad.

- I like being able to see both health and Mana above/around a character.

- To see enemy buffs & items I would really like it if you could use a modifier key on a hover over. IE - Hold Cntrl + Shift - Hover over an enemy and I get an overlay in the middle of the screen that's fairly transparent that shows me all the pertinent information about that enemy. This would save a lot of space by not needing a giant UI block some where for enemy buffs. Let go of Cntrl + Shfit and the overlay dissappears.

Since the game uses lua for some purposes, can we have a lua display API that lets us design our own layouts?

I really like this.

The one minor comment I'd make is to swap the ability buttons to the top for your player abilities - this is important so that you don't mis-click the ability when trying to upgrade it.

Great concept work here.

I can understand the want/need to personally create our own UI's, but let's not become World of Warcraft. Sure if there was something particularly similar to this it would be used, but I think it should be taken into account like some other posters, the UI, although not perfect, is very easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.

In my opinion, if you allow the players to freely move the objects around while in-game and give them the ability to "save" it that would be suffice to a "custom" UI.

Please note: I still love what you've done with the UI Hackman, you've really intrigued me with your skills in UI Design.

Thanks,
Fury

I love your most recent concept, really clean. Of course, if the PvP.net client ever got a cohesive style, I'd like to see your concept skinned to look the same. It'd be pretty great.

Just for note, the way i meant to be this part is to grayout ONLY when the champion is dead, and show the portrait normally when the champion is alive but with no numbers of health/mana when it isn't in YOUR vision range (not allies vision range). So, if you want to check the position of an enemy champion that isn't in YOUR vision range and know his health/mana you HAVE TO look the minimap or go and see directly moving the camera.

It's your point of view, valid like everyone's. Personally i think that is a nice feature that most RTS&RPG&Related games should implement (my point of view as a deskmod fan ^^ )

100% agree, indeed i was working in a mockup showing the second idea. It would be awesome to hold ALT (an example) and pass the cursor over a enemy to see a tooltip-like box with the information that now is shown in the bar on top of the screen (health, mana, lvl, items)

A fully customizable UI is always welcome, of course.
i like the radail UI, as it can display a lot of info for such a small space, although i feel its a bit cluttered. a bit more twaeking perhaps...

radial UI's provide a much smoother feel then the square blockings of most modern games. i recon the UI does need a decent revision but smooth flowing lines instead of corners will help this UI alot.

Wouldn't it be better if riot just allowed custom ui's, since it's impossible to make an ui that satifies all ?
