Why does Baron suddenly get pro after the second attack?

I've noticed this a few times, whenever I initiate on Baron, I do some good damage on him, then suddenly he gets beefy and only receives like 1/5 damage from my attacks.

Some mechanic I'm missing here?

He has a debuff that reduces your attack damage by half i believe

Look at the debuff row next time you initiate against him. He takes down your AD by like 200 points (or some insane percentage)

He has this really crazy debuff that reduces your AD and you take a **** ton of damage from it.

Its to prevent people from soloing baron at an early level.
