i mean basically i dont have enough ip to just blow on a whole new rune set.. right now, i have basic, yellow health per level, red armor pen, and blue CD reduction.
all i can afford right now. how can i play jax with these runes, what items and can i still be viable?

It depends, Jax, being the very flexible character that he is, can have many builds. AP and damage make a great build on him because of his passive. therefore Guinsoos rageblade is a must for him. Hes also strong enough to be played as a very nimble Tank. i that case weapeons like black cleaver and phage->frozen mallet will be a good asset to him. I like playing him as a lifesteal. itll let him stay in longer and will agitate my opponents even more. take it from a main jax player and experiment with these options to find out what you like. or take maximus' way and be lazy and look up other peoples builds. :P

Item Build: Amplifying Tome -> Mejai's -> Ninja Tabi -> Guinsoo's Rageblade -> Lich Bane -> Ryali's Crystal Sceptor -> Zhonya's Ring. To fight, press W, Q, E in that order. Than just spam randomly.

After this point, if you're really smashing their faces in, grab Mejai's Soulstealer. If you're not, get MR/Armor. The reasoning behind this is simple: burst damage > sustained damage.
