I'm quite biased towards the link I gave regarding Sivir's SS, as I know they update it frequently, and test and retest rather strictly to ensure different conditions are tested.

According to that link I gave, Brand's passive is not applied, triggered or refreshed if a spell is blocked. So if Brand hits with Pillar of Flame (W), you will take the damage and the passive. Then, if you block Sear (Q), it does not do damage or stun (effect if target is ablaze--and there is no reapplication of blaze). This is also clear in the information for Conflagration: Both casting on you and the AoE are blocked. If you are ablaze and get hit by the spell it will not trigger AoE.

Pillar of Flame is blocked by BV though...

That should clarify things for you.
This actually just confused the hell out of me. So, these spells block banshee's veil, but there are more that pop it, that aren't on this list? That list seems really small. Phew, 77 champs, 4 abilities each, that's a lot to remember which ones do and don't. Furthermore, when it "blocks" Destiny, what does that even mean? Twisted Fate can't see you?

Ok, thanks, I'm starting to understand better. Persistant AoE's won't pop it, but Brand's Pillar of Flame is Burst AoE it does. Got cha.

Yes, but I wasn't trying to say Pillar of Flame couldn't be blocked--it was just to illustrate the lack of effect of blaze that was already applied on a target if BV pops up.

If you're asking about it's AOE ability, I think sustained AOE abilities are not blocked. It would work the same way as Malzahar's CoTV does, which is also another AOE ability blocked by BV. Lux's Lucent Singularity works the same way (only active damage blocked, not slow).

Edit: @Frosty: Yes, TF will not be able to see you, but your other teammates. Though if you are in the vicinity of a teammate, he will be able to see you regardless. The general rule of thumb with BV is that AOE damage over time (sustained damage), and single target DoTs are not negated because they are constantly applied over a duration.

AOE DOTs are not blocked. This is because they deal too little damage/would be too powerful in popping shield.
Includes AOE slows like Adhesive and Void Ooze.

Non-spell magic damage (On-hit effects/Blaze) are not blocked. Not sure about the burst damage items though - DFG, Cutlass, and Gunblade.

Burst AOE is blocked. Cass Q counts as a burst AOE because it hits once and inflicts poison. Nocturne and TF ults are also in this category, along with the normal AOE spells.

If an enemy spell puts a debuff on the target, it's blocked if it's burst - any magres reduction or other "spell on-hit debuff."
If it's Udyr's "cannot use stun again within 6 seconds" it is NOT blocked, as it is not a harmful spell effect.

'Single target DoTs' will still be blocked if they're targeted (Malzahar's Visions), however if your veil comes up while they're on you, it will be unaffected.

Single target DoTs that are more persistent, the only one I can think of is Teemo's E which is an on hit effect, aren't blocked.
