In Starcraft you didn't have a large number of AOE ground abilities to deal with the stealth unit. You could see their outline and knew they were there, but without detection units, you couldn't really do anything about them.
In LoL, we've got Blitz ult, Brand Pillar, Swain Circle, Lux ult, Kennen ult, Garen Spin, Darius Spin, etc. Tons of abilities that can still damage you even if they can't target you. Therefore, being able to see a stealth champ, even a faint outline of one, would be pointless, as they are still just as vulnerable as if they were not hidden at all.
