its not that malady is BAD, it's that there are much better items than malady. I main Udyr and used to get malady and do well, but now i avoid it and get items i feel work better (wits end n guinsoos...im not a fan of lifesteal on udyr, if i REALLY want it ill just get a scepter until i can turn it into a BT lategame)

Malady debuff affects phoenix ticks, so it's not really a bad item.

If it did then it would actually be a decent item on him, considering it would be a total of +90 damage for each attack after 8 attacks.

However, it does not, as only the first hit of tiger applies on hit effects.

I believe however, and correct me if I am wrong, that every tick of phoenix will proc malady, as well as every 3rd attack, as those are instances of damage from a champion which do not have the tiger restriction on them.

So for a fully maladied champion that would be 6 ticks of phoenix (?), 3 attacks, and 1 phoenix proc, for a total of 10 procs from 3 attacks, or 300 damage. If you have malady fully applied. If it works that way. If you get 3 attacks off. If phoenix ticks 6 times.

Still, lotta potential for damage at least.

I know only the first hit of tiger applies on hit, but the 5 additional damage per hit isnt an on hit effect, only applying it is. Since Malady's effect does an additional 5 damage each time they are attacked by an enemy, each of tigers three attacks should be affected by it. Unless you already know this isnt the case for sure.

The cost of Malady is a bit too much for what it does. Id rather get a starks or a last whisper. Even a Wit's End has that Good passive.

Starks fervor costs 2550.It gives 40% Aspd, 25% lifesteal and 20 armpen, and it gives an aura.

For 500 more gold starks fervor is strictly better and gives an aura.
You could also pick up last whisper for slightly less.

So don't let them tell you the truth?
In most of the cases it is a bad item, yes, but there are exceptions.

Malady's passive is actually good when you have a lot of damage ticking as in Udyr's case.

I'm nearly certain, because even though the effect is applied to the target, it is still an on hit effect.
