A few weeks ago we shared plans to bring back Ranked 5s along with the introduction of ranked emblems and a deeper look at autofill. Now let’s talk about changes to dynamic queue matchmaking to address fairness issues, high tier match quality, and why it’s not easy to earn a solo badge.
Two weeks ago, we confirmed that we're not bringing back solo queue and promised to do a better job of keeping you updated about our ongoing efforts to improve ranked. Let's talk about what we're doing to address three specific issues: 1) recognition for skilled solo play in dynamic queue, 2) opportunities for ranked fives, and 3) matchmaking problems including queue times for high MMR players and improved odds for everyone to get their primary role.
Starting off the season, we made fundamental changes to ranked to emphasize coordinated team play. After considering all possible options and assessing the gains (and losses) of dynamic queue, we've made the decision to not bring back solo queue.
Show off your skill with your favorite champs along with your dedication to them with new Champion Mastery Levels 6 and 7. When we launched Champion Mastery, our goal was to recognize you for playing the champs you love, and give you feedback on how well you play them. The new levels go further, requiring high-skill performances in addition to time spent playing.
Hextech crafting and loot are now live in NA! We’re introducing the new system to reward you with loot-filled chests through Champion Mastery when you or your premade perform well and also provide a way to pick up randomized content at large discounts.
