Welcome to episode 10 of the Community Recap. I’m going to blame any delays in the release of this week’s update on the suspiciously shotgun-stock-shaped bruise that I have on my right shoulder. There’s a bit of tenderness, but I’m sleeping like a baby. Thanks for your concern. At any rate, here’s what’s buzzing this week.
What’s new?
We’ve been undergoing a lot organizational changes here in the Riot Office. Still there are a few initiatives on the Community front on which I’d love to give you an update:
Welcome to episode 9 of the Community Recap. Now that we've integrated the European players into their new platform the challenge of managing a multinational community begins. There's a lot of reorganizing that has to go on here in community now that we're merged with our brothers on the other side of the Pond, so we're hard at work smoothing out the wrinkles. In the meantime, though, here's your super special, delayed-because-of-Memorial-Day edition of the Community Recap.
Runeterrans! We know that ever since we launched many of you have been hard at work spreading the word about League of Legends far and wide. But there is one summoner amongst you who has single-handedly bolstered the ranks of League of Legends with more fervor than any other. His name is Grez, and he is the first summoner to reach the reward tier for 1000 friend referrals of at least level 10. And not only did he reach this loft goal, but he significantly surpassed it. Currently, Grez has over 1,500 referrals! That’s more than enough people than serve in an entire battalion of soldiers!
Ladies and gentlemen of the community, it is my pleasure to present to you with a community and Riot skin collaboration: Exiled Morgana. This skin was pioneered by community member Pawige, who posted his Recently Fallen Morgana skin to the League of Legends forums on April 14, 2010. Needless to say, we found it rather eye-catching. So eye-catching in fact, that we asked his permission to forward it along to our art department so that they could use it as the basis for our premier Morgana skin.
Some of you might be so bold as to claim that snail mail is passe in this day and age, but we here at Riot think that a little personal touch like this can go a long way. This is especially true if you're in elementary school, and you've selected us to be the recipient of one of the first letters that you've ever written in your life. Riot Games is proud to have been the recipient of just such a letter. Sometimes it's not the awards, it's not the prestige, it's not even the money that drives us; it's the love.
Since we launched refer-a-friend back in January, there has been a veritable army of summoners out there spreading the word about the League of Legends. We're pleased to say that the program has been doing great, and a lot of summoners have answered the call. We're so pleased, in fact, that we want to make the program even more enticing. With this in mind, and, of course, in the spirit of sharing, we will be adding a reward tier to our refer-a-friend program.
